Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve got questions….I’ve got some answers. In case you don’t find your answer here, please email me!
Who supplies the items for engraving?
There are 2 options: you supply the item and send it to my address or I supply it for you (saves you time)
If you choose to supply the item: you purchase the product and send it or have it sent directly to me from the retailer(will save you on postage). Always use well known retailers like Boots, The Perfume Shop, Look Fantastic or directly from brands website.
How does the engraving process work?
If you have any questions about pricing, feel free to email for a quote before we start the process, especially if you have multiple items.
Main steps are:
1. You complete the Engraving Request Form on my website. (saves time from back and forth emailing)
2. You will send me your item(s) or get them posted directly from the online retailer to save on postage. I’ll provide the postal address when everything is confirmed.
3. I will send you the invoice for the engraving job (this needs to be paid before any work is commenced)
4. Once I receive the item(s), and invoice is paid, I will then send you a digital mock-up of the engraving so you can get a general idea what it will look like and make any changes if you want.
5. I will engrave the items, and post them back to you.
How long is the turnaround time for engraving?
My standard turnaround time for engraved items is 10-15 working days.
It all depends on how much work I already have in the queue in that month. If you have multiple items it ensures they can all be completed. The earlier the better as I would hate for you to wait until the last minute and I can’t accept the order as there are too many in the queue.
What if I need the items quickly? Do you do rush orders?
Also, depends how busy I am in that month with other orders. I will try my best to accommodate rush orders. I sometimes have the ability to turn rush orders around in a day or two but since that means moving other projects around, there is a Rush Fee of 10%-20% involved depending on the scope of the order.
What is Colour Fill?
Once the items are engraved, some bottles can then be filled with Gold or Silver. If the bottle is frosted, it cannot be filled with a colour and must be left frosted. If you are unsure what colour you would like your engraving filled with, that’s not a problem. I’m happy to recommend a colour that matches the item or I can give you examples in the mock-up.
What surfaces can be engraved?
Glass, metal, marble. slate, some plastics…just ask!
Can textured items be engraved?
Unfortunately, no. I usually have to decline those items for engraving or offer an alternative option like bottle painting.
Can frosted items be engraved?
Yes, and there are limitations for colour filling, it works best for names and dates (and not small longer text)
